La Araucanía is one of the 16 regions into which Chile is divided. It is located in the southern area of the country, about 690 km from Santiago, it´s capital.

Native forests, volcanoes, rivers and lakes are part of the region´s distinguishing characteristics and give life to national parks, national reserves and natural monuments.

Multiculturality, the innovation ecosystem, together with the touristic attractions are part of the regional strengths, which make of La Araucanía a partner with much to share. It offers many investment opportunities, which go beyond the forestry industry which it is usually associated with at a first glance. It also offers opportunities to diversify its production model and register a higher development in different areas.

La Araucanía region is in the southern area of Chile, and it is one of the 16 regions into which the country is divided. Temuco is the capital of the region.


It is divided into two administrative provinces, Cautín and Malleco, and 32 districts.


The main economic activity is farming and forestry, given its climate and soil conditions.


Foreign investment currently comes from the United States, Japan, and Argentina, among other, in different sectors such as agricultural industry, energy and technology.


La Araucanía International Airport is located at Freire district, 20 km south of Temuco.
